Nina Santillanez Riley
Nina Riley's musical journey has been a testament to dedication and passion. Hailing from the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, Nina's musical odyssey began early, shaping her into a multifaceted musician, recording engineer, producer, and educator.
Her musical roots trace back to Jacksonville University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music, delving deeply into trombone, jazz, and commercial music production. Since then, Nina's trombone has resonated across a spectrum of genres and stages, from wind ensembles and orchestras to ska bands and jazz combos, spanning both coasts over the past 25 years.
Nina's commitment to mastery led her to study under esteemed mentors such as Wayne Wallace, Andy Martin, Casey Maday, and Christopher Creswell, each enriching her artistry and expanding her musical horizons.
Beyond performing, Nina is deeply invested in music education, boasting 15 years of experience as an instructor. She finds fulfillment in nurturing the musical talents of both young learners and adults, recognizing the transformative power of music in shaping lives.
She has obtained her Masters in Music and Music Technology at Southern Utah University, Nina's thirst for knowledge and innovation remains unquenchable. She's poised to continue her journey, leveraging her expertise to record and produce emerging artists, shaping the soundscape of tomorrow.

Over the years Nina has studied trombone under the tutelage of Wayne Wallace (Professor of Jazz studies, San Jose State), Andy Martin (Instructor of Jazz studies, USC Thorton), Casey Maday (Trombone adjunct, UNF) , and Christopher Creswell (Trombone Instructor, Jacksonville University).
Currently In Charleston, South Carolina, In addition to teaching many brass and woodwind students. Nina also spends Time at Thomas C. Cario Middle School , as a clinician, where she runs low brass sectionals and lessons weekly. She is actively involved in performances with Joe Clark's Forte Big Band, The Velvosonics, Summerville Orchestra and the Hans Schmidt Band.
